Health and Hygiene for Internally Displaced People
In Ethiopia’s Somali region, COVID-19 has made the situation for internally displaced people living in camps even more difficult. Extreme overcrowding, catastrophic sanitation conditions, and non-existent health services make it virtually impossible to implement protection and prevention measures. Welthungerhilfe is improving the WASH (water, sanitation, and hygiene) situation in these camps, by building handwashing stations and procuring drinking water. It is also training healthcare aides to provide information about hygiene & infectious diseases & to provide infants with nutritious meals.
