Building the Capacity of Local Organisations to Provide Humanitarian Aid

Ethiopia, perennially beset by natural and other disasters, is regularly in need of humanitarian aid. However, local organisations have generally served only as ’go-betweens’ in intl. projects. This is set to change: As part of an eight-country programme set up by four German NGOs, Welthungerhilfe is developing the capacities of local partners in Ethiopia and Pakistan to deliver humanitarian assistance. Through training, advice, workshops, and knowledge exchanges with other organisations, partners gain both in terms of their professionalism and their influence within their home countries.
